Svend’s horror story;

Today, his neighbor pulls up in a skoda superb estate he just brought. Tomorrow, he sees him ‘washing it’ with a brillo pad and a bucket full of toilet bowl cleaner.

Hey don’t even. A neighbour who’s a doctor pulled up outside his house one day with a brand new VW Golf GTD with loads of extras. The following week I see him with one sponge and one bucket, hap-hazardly wiping all over the car and wheels with the same water going from panel to wheel, to roof, to panel, panel then wheel, etc... to rinse off the car he then tips the dirty water all over the car and lets it dry.

My brain was screaming STOP THE CRAZINESS, then I thought it’s his car he bought it and it’s up to him what he does with it and to mind my own business.

But still I wanted to shout STOP!

Good lad. People often drop those brushes on the floor and then small bits of grit get into the bristles and then the true horror starts.

Its sad that people see nothing wrong with using a stiff brissle to clean their car.

Good job! Here’s what I do:

I bring my own microfiber scrubber. I put the minimum amount of money in the machine, and turn on the soap. I soak the car, wheels, wheel wells, and most importantly my microfiber scrubber down with the soap. Then I turn on the bubble brush and let it make a giant bubble mess on the wall and ground until time runs out while I use my scrubber to wash the car. Top first, then the upper panels, and the lower panels last. When the soap gets too thin, I carefully scoop some of the bubble brush soap back onto my scrubber. Then I use the bubble brush to wash my wheels and tires. Then I put the minimum amount back into the machine and rinse the car and my scrubber off. I finish up making sure I do a really good job with the spot free rinse, putting extra quarters in if necessary. Last step: remember to put the scrubber back in your trunk (I have a plastic tote with supplies like tire shine, spray wax, bug pad, micro towels, shammy, and shop rags for the wheels). I have forgotten that thing and had to go back multiple times.

Ye’, it only takes an extra 20 minutes to wash the car with care. Shampoo/snow foam/preswash the car and let soak, wash the wheels, rinse off whole car, two bucket was the car with a wool mitt/pad or microfibre wash mitt/pad and then rinse, use either drying aid /quick detailer/microfibre towel to dry.

If you less the brush foam the car (keeping the brush off the car and just hovering the brush over it), any extra let foam into a bucket, then use your pad to wash as you do. The foam sitting on the car will help soften and emulsify the dirt making it easily to shift when you use your pad over it, use the bucket for extra soap where needed. Or use a bucket with water to wash out the pad of debris before going onto the next area and then rinse off.

It’s only a suggestion though fella.

I need to find a self wash place near home before winter sets in!

When I’m home I have that stuff that pulls all the contaminates out of the paint. Turns it all purple and smells like hell but it definitely makes a difference in the final product.

The 2 by memail around campus close at a certain point for winter. So I can’t keep my car or my parents car clean. It’s rather annoying.

The whole point of a car wash is to use it in winter, seems silly to close. I can just use a garden hose other times of the year. And washing the salt off my car in the winter seems more important than just keeping it looking good in the summer. I need to just drive around some local roads until I find one!

Ye’, the fallout remover. It safely desolves the brake dust that imbeds into the cars paint. Should only need it every 500-1,000 miles. It’s good stuff. I use the wheel cleaner very on wheels a lot of the time as it’s safe and does a couple of jobs in one faster making what would be a 40-45 minute job on the wheels an easy 15 minute job.

I’ll have to check tomorrow if I still have yours. I have 3 different emails so i might not be able to find it. I can’t look now because I’m out at a local watering hole.

Yeah I only use it every couple of washes. The first time I used it on my car was crazy. The ENTIRE car was purple. My dad walked outside and started complaining about the smell.

Ye’, it’s not a pleasant smell. Bilt Hamber Korrosol is the best smelling of the lot and the worst is CarPro Iron-X but even then it’s much better than what it used to smell like three years ago.
